The adventure departs from the La Conner Channel Lodge and will return to the same about 2 p.m. No mass start means you may quickly leave to search for clues while making your way to an ice cream social.
The Summer Seersucker comes on the heels of the wildly successful Dandy Daffodil Tweed Ride. The purpose of these rides is to bring together those interested in vintage style and bicycling. It’s fun to dress up in nice clothes and pretend you live in a Fitzgerald novel, while making your way back into a gentler time.
If you can attend it’s best to leave the Lycra and spandex at home. Instead, opt for something a bit more stylish — like a vintage seersucker suit, leather lace-up shoes and a flat cap. While you’re at it, swap out your usual MP3 playlist for a 1920s jazz-inspired lineup. Helmets are always encouraged if you happen to be cycling.
If you can’t make the scavenger hunt but still want to celebrate, the after party is not to be missed. It’s a great way to experience what it must have been like in the 20s and 30s. There are a lot of elements of that era that are worth bringing back.
